On Monday, February 15, 1999, the WWF was speeding down the Road to WrestleMania. Coming on the heels of the Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre, which saw Mankind retain his WWF World Heavyweight Title against the Rock in a Last Man Standing match, Raw delivered a rematch with the belt on the line again. This time, it would be defended in a ladder match. With a little help from Paul Wight, who debuted the night before, The Rock was able to defeat Mankind and win the World Title, becoming the Corporate Champion. The Great One went on to WrestleMania XV to take on “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in their first of three WrestleMania battles. Mankind, conversely, went on to “The Raging Climax” to face Paul Wight, who was by then known as The Big Show.

The World Title wasn’t the only one to change hands on Raw that night. The European Championship switched owners as well when X-Pac defended his belt in a tag team contest, featured above. X-Pac teamed with Triple H to wrestle Corporation members Shane McMahon and Kane. After some interference from Chyna, Shane-O-Mac was able to pin X-Pac and get his first taste of federation gold. At WrestleMania, the four participants from this tag team match competed in singles matches with each other. Triple H would face Kane, while X-Pac would receive a rematch with Shane McMahon for the European Championship.
