This weekend, you voted on the first batch of first round matches to crown the best WWE Champion of the past decade. The results are in.
Batista here just barely missed advancing into the next round, losing to The Rock by just 2 votes. The final tally was 45 to 43, making it about as close a match as I think we’ll see. While this was the most exciting, it was not the only match decided this weekend. Randy Orton bested Hulk Hogan by grabbing 57% of the votes to move on in the tournament. Kurt Angle unsurprisingly defeated The Miz, more than doubling the must-see champion’s vote total. Lastly, Edge was able to eliminate Rob Van Dam in the most one-sided of our matches, recording 61 votes for himself, enough to easily beat RVD’s 24.
It’ll be The Rock, Randy Orton, Kurt Angle, and Edge advancing into the Elite 8 of our Champion of Champions tournament, but they won’t be alone. Four spots remain to be determined, and voting for those matches will be opened on Friday afternoon. Every day until then, we’ll be previewing one of the matches you’ll get to vote on, as we did last week. Below is the updated bracket for you to review. We’ve got some real barn burners this week, so be sure to read up on them each afternoon and vote for your favorites on Friday!
