A few weeks ago, we discussed how the WWE Network changed the face of the WWE as well as the method for distribution for the entire industry. Video On Demand has long been apart of indies (even before the network), but this ‘over-the-top’ monthly subscription is a direct result of the WWE’s paradigm shift. Now you can stay up to date on small North American companies like Beyond or international juggernauts like New Japan Pro Wrestling. While we don’t have the money to subscribe to all of them, we decided to put together a list of the most notable streaming services we were able to find. This list isn’t entire comprehensive, so let us know if we missed any that you’d like to see added!
Company | Service | Rundown | Price Range |
---|---|---|---|
Ring of Honor | Ringside | Weekly TV and VOD Event Archive dating back to 2002 through 2015 | Free – $59.99/year |
Chikara | Chikaratopia | Broadcast Channel with live events coming soon. Plus HD VOD content dating back to 2002 | $7.99/month |
New Japan Pro Wrestling | New Japan World | Every NJPW event live plus archive of events dating back to 1975 | 999 Yen (About $9.99USD) |
High Spots | Highspots.tv | Under construction but expect content from various indies all over America | TBD |
Beyond | BeyonDemand | Raw footage and full shows, past and present | $9.99/month |
CZW | CZW Studios | Latest events with 800 hour archive | $9.99/month |
AIW | AIW Archives | Mainly archive of before-they-were stars content, full DVDs, CAPW archive | $7.99/month |
ICW | ICW On Demand | Current content and archive dating back to 2013 | $6.99/month |
Revolution Pro Wrestling | RPWOnDemand | Largely archival with occasional new content | $8.49/month |
We haven’t had the opportunity to try all of these services yet, so in no way is this post an endorsement of any of these. The only one we currently have is Chiakratopia and that’s been a real treat, diving in to the long mythology of the organization. We do intend on subscribing to New Japan World soon. We’ll spend some time reviewing each in the near future. If you have any feedback on any of the above, we’d love to hear from you on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter!
