This day in Rasslin’ History is a sad one, as it’s the five year anniversary of the Great Khali’s debut. During an Undertaker vs Mark Henry match on the April 7, 2006 edition of Friday Night Smackdown, Daivari led Khali to the ring. At that time, Daivari was the manager of Mark Henry, and he contracted Khali in an attempt to sign a client who would be able to defeat the Undertaker. On the night of his debut, the unknown giant manhandled the Undertaker, leaving the Phenom unconscious in the ring. Khali towered over the Deadman when the two stood toe-to-toe before the attack, an odd sight to say the least.

Since his debut, Khali has captured the World Heavyweight Title, taken home a Slammy, and participated in main event feuds with the likes of John Cena, the Big Show, and Kane. He’s also outrageously well-received in India. Conversely, he holds the distinction of being one of the all time worst wrestlers ever to step foot in a WWE ring. His arsenal of manuevers can be counted on one hand, he’s never sold a move in his life, and he literally cannot speak at all. How the Great Khali has lasted five years in the WWE is a mystery to me.
