Edge and Rob Van Dam will meet in the first round of our Champion of Champions tournament, designed to determine your favorite champion of the past ten years.
This is going to sound ridiculous, but during his WWE career, Edge has held a whopping 31 championships. He’s an 11-time World Champion, 5-time Intercontinental Champ, 1-time United States strap wearer, and 14-time time co-holder of the Tag Team Titles. Along with Kurt Angle, he is one of two men to have held all of the active male championships in the company. Edge won the 2001 King of the Ring tournament, became the first Mr. Money in the Bank in 2005, and was victorious in the 2010 Royal Rumble. He is the only man to accomplish all three feats, and only four other wrestlers have even succeeded in two of them. Edge’s notable feuds include John Cena, Mick Foley, and Shawn Michaels.
Rob Van Dam is a 1-time WWE Champion and the first ECW Champion in the WWE’s lineage. He’s a 6-time Intercontinental Champion, a 3-time Tag Team Title holder, a 4-time Hardcore Champ, and a former European Champion. Like Edge, he is a Money in the Bank winner, achieving the briefcase in 2006. Rob Van Dam is the only man to ever hold the WWE and ECW titles simultaneously, and he’s also the only man to hold the ECW, WWE, and TNA Championships during his career. Memorable opponents RVD faced in WWE included John Cena, Chris Jericho, and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Edge and Van Dam faced each other on a number of occasions while they were both in WWE. Most notably, Rob Van Dam successfully defended the WWE Championship against Edge at Vengeance 2006. A week later, Edge won the Championship from RVD in a triple threat match that also included John Cena. Come back and vote for your favorite champion on Friday!
