On February 8, 1992, WWE broadcasted Saturday Night’s Main Event XXX. The thirtieth edition of the PPV-caliber show was one of only two episodes to ever air on the FOX Network, and was the second to last entry in the show’s original run. One of the marquee matches on that memorable Saturday night saw Hulk Hogan teaming with Sid Justice to take on World Champion Ric Flair and the Undertaker. The match resulted in the disqualification of the Phenom’s team, and the Hogan Vs Flair WrestleMania match that it was meant to provide publicity for ultimately never took place. Regardless, it was a star-studded affair on a card of equally memorable matches. The February 8 special also witnessed “Rowdy” Roddy Piper defeat the Mountie to determine who would carry the Intercontinental Title into WrestleMania. As a result of his successful defense that Saturday Night, Piper went on to wrestle Bret Hart in one of the most highly acclaimed matches in WrestleMania history. Sargeant Slaughter and Jim Duggan replaced the Legion of Doom in a match against the Beverly Brothers after the Road Warriors left the company on a brief hiatus the previous night. Hacksaw and Slaughter made short work of their opponents, squashing them in under three minutes. In the evening’s main event, Randy Savage defeated Jake “The Snake” Roberts and effectively ended a feud between the two that had simmered since the previous summer. Savage went berzerk on his rival, winning with his pattented flying elbow and hitting the maneuver a second time after the match for good measure. Savage was attempting to connect with the move for a third time, but was stopped by officials. The show went off the air that night with the “Macho Man” celebrating in the ring with his lady, Miss Elizabeth.
