The WWE invaded Adelaide last weekend, and the resulting controversy is already a hot topic around the internet. In the midst of WWE’s anti-bullying campaign, “suspended” superstar CM Punk referred to a fan as a “homo.” The story was picked up by TMZ, and as a result, GLAAD is breathing down the sports entertainment juggernaut’s neck. This is a video of the actual slur being uttered.

I’m not going to sit here and defend Punk’s use of the word, but even if it offends you, you can likely admit that the insults that surround it are pretty hilarious. From the gibberish Punk spews in the opening seconds, to the hilarious walkabout reference, to the boasting that he’s succeeding in getting the fans to buy his schtick hook, line, and sinker, Punk never ceases to be entertaining. The Rick Rude soup strainer only adds to the appeal. As for the heat that he brought down on WWE with his use of “homo,” the Second City Saint offered this apology:
“I’m glad TMZ posted that video because everybody needs to be held accountable for their bullshit, me included. What I said was bullshit.
…I’m embarrassed. I own up to being a total douche in this situation and I offer a sincere apology to anybody I hurt with careless words.”
How is it that even his apology is entertaining? This guy can do no wrong. While we’re on the topic, here’s Punk taunting another fan at the same event by almost tossing her his t-shirt. Guy’s a genius!
