Saturday night marked the annual dinner of the White House Correspondents’ Association. While this might not sound like wrestling news, it’s significant to the wrestling community for a couple of reasons. For one, WrestleMania alumni Donald Trump was in attendance and was the focus of a lot of the conversation. More importantly, President Barack Obama made his entrance to the familiar sounds of Hulk Hogan’s WWE theme music, “Real American.” The President of the United States of America, entering a political event with the accompaniment of wrestling theme music. I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking that the entire political spectrum would become infinitely more interesting if the use of theme music became commonplace. Politicians being interrupted by the entrance music of their rivals – it’s the future. Disappointingly, the parallels to professional wrestling ended at the theme song; there was no flexing, taunting, or boa-wearing to go along with it.
With the news of Osama Bin Laden’s death breaking last night, this entrance becomes even cooler. This won’t be the last patriotic post today.
