If you answered yes to the above question, Combat Zone Wrestling might be the place for you. CZW prides itself on its ultraviolent nature, taking the hardcore style innovated by ECW and magnifying it to a sickening degree. The Philadelphia based promotion is known for the common incorporation of fluorescent light tubes, fire, and thumbtacks into their matches. And now, their holding open auditions to find the next great CZW star. If you’ve ever thought you’d be especially good at being whacked in the face with a barbed-wire wrapped 2×4, this might be your time to shine.
To qualify, CZW is asking hopefuls to have at least some prior in-ring experience. The tryouts will be held on May 1st, and participants will be required to submit a resume, photo, and tape of their previous work to [email protected] by next Monday, April 25th.
To be fair, CZW isn’t entirely a hardcore promotion. Most of their shows only feature one or two ultraviolent matches, with the rest of the card playing out in a more traditional fashion. To testify to that point, their roster includes the Briscoe Brothers, Ruckus, and even a guy who does a standing 450 splash. But I guess that when even just a few of your matches involve guys being thrown into pits of broken glass, the ultraviolent stigma is going to be a hard one to shake. At any rate, sign yourself up for a tryout if you think you’ve got what it takes.
