Back before John Bradshaw Layfield was a stock market tycoon, he was part of a little tag team known as the APA, short for Acolyte Protection Agency. He and Ron Simmons, who was still Faarooq at the time, would lend their ass-beating services to anyone with the scratch to pay them, or at least that’s how the story went. Usually though, they only helped the faces. They’re enlisted by Chris Jericho in this promo, and you can even hear one of Simmons’ early “DAMN”s before speaking with that word exclusively became his thing.
