Kurt Angle was arrested in the wee hours of Friday morning in North Dakota after being found passed out behind the wheel of his car, which was parked on a highway median. Police found him there after a concerned passer-by dialed 911 and reported the oddly placed vehicle. According to the police report, an officer was able to smell alcohol when he approached Angle’s Dodge Durango. Angle was administered a field sobriety test, which he was unable to pass. The police noted that Angle was a complete gentleman through the ordeal, and he didn’t start any trouble when he was arrested. Interestingly, Angle has issued this statement:
“I was not drunk. I was in ice storm and my car slid into 3 ft of snow median. I called police 4 help.”
He also mentioned that he was distracted by a text message he received. Mind you, there was a no ice storm in North Dakota on Friday. The highway is believed to have been dry and completely devoid of snow. Also, contrary to Kurt’s statement that he called the police for help, the police report notes that they were called by a passer-by. Angle has already had DUI and driving with a suspended license charges against him over the past few years, and now he’s facing of a charge of “being in control of a motor vehicle while intoxicated.” The charge is phrased this way, as opposed to just being a DUI, because Angle was behind the wheel when he was found but was not witnessed driving.
