Chikara’s annual trios tournament happens this weekend in Easton, PA. King of Trios is the largest tournament in all of pro wrestling with 16 teams of 3 competing in 15 matches over the course of 3 days to crown this year’s champions. While Chikara is the host promotion, competitors from all over the world show up to compete. Entering the tournament together this year are WWE Cruiserweight Classic standouts Cedric Alexander, Johnny Gargano and Chikara trainer Drew Gulak. Japanese women’s promotions JWP and Sendai Girls have sent teams of their own as well! These aren’t just Round 1 showcase matches either. Last year, Mexico’s AAA representatives, Aero Star, Drago and Fenix won the entire tournament, besting NJPW’s AJ Styles and The Young Bucks in the finals!

The 2016 Tournament actually features four all female teams plus two teams captained by Heidi Lovelace and former Chikara Grand Champion Kimber Lee. The other two all female teams are quite the treat. We’ve got Team Shimmer featuring Crazy Mary Dobson, Solo Darling and Candace LeRae taking on The Original Divas Revolution team with Lisa Marie Varon, Jazz and Mickie James!

All of the aforementioned performers will be competing on the first night of the tournament! Night 2 will feature the 4 quarter-final matches of the tournament, 2 Rey de Voladores fourway elimination matches and an appearance by up and comer Deonna Purrazzo. (By the way, Rey de Voladores translates to King of Flying, so prepare for some amazing sights in those match ups.) The 3 day tournament wraps up on Sunday afternoon with the final round of Rey de Voladores, a 10- team tag team gauntlet match and the final 3 matches of King of Trios!

The weekend features more than just wrestling too. On Saturday, Chikara will be sponsoring two fan events: the Victory Road Rally and the annual Fan Conclave. Victory Road Rally is a scavenger hunt of sorts where you and up to more 4 friends pile in your car and search the Lehigh Valley for clues utilizing the Pokemon Go app. Later that afternoon, the Fan Conclave will feature an N64 No Mercy tournament put together by Worker Ant which will pit you vs your friends and Chikara superstars.  Juan Francisco De Coronado will also be taking applications for his new..personal servant? And finally, Wrestle Factory trainer Ophidian along with Fire Ant will invite 15 lucky fans into the ring for an intro to pro wrestling class. Many of the stars of Trios will be there as well, selling merch and meeting fans!
