“Sin Cara” literally translates to “Without a Face.”  A more appropriate name for the International Sensation might be “Without a Job.”

Following WWE’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view just over a week ago, Sin Cara received a 30-day suspension as a result of violating WWE’s wellness policy.  The luchador has since spoken publicly against his suspension, indicating that he believed he had done nothing wrong.  His open defamation of the WWE’s drug testing measures has reportedly garnered him a generous amount of heat backstage.  Coupled with the WWE already being less-than-enthused about his ring work to date, many are of the impression that the man formerly known as Mistico may never show his face (or lack thereof) in the world’s most prominent wrestling company again.  Evidence to support that notion continues to grow.

The creative team has been told not to include Sin Cara in their future plans, indicating that the jury might still be out on whether or not he may someday return to the roster.  In perhaps the most telling move since the suspension, Sin Cara has now been removed from all promotional material for this year’s SummerSlam.  Above, you’ll find the original poster for the event.  Below, the newly revised version.  As you’ll see, Sin Cara has been replaced by none-other-than the WWE’s other resident high flyer, Rey Mysterio Jr.

For better or worse, the smart money is on Sin Cara’s WWE days being behind him.  At the very least, I’m glad we at least got to see him take part in a Money in the Bank ladder match.  While it’s a crying shame that we may never see him participate in matches with the likes of Alberto Del Rio or CM Punk, there aren’t many guys currently under contract capable of matching his style.  Months ago, it was reported that the WWE had inked fellow luchador Averno to a deal for the specific purpose of working with Sin Cara, but if Cara is indeed done with the promotion, it’s a safe assumption that his longtime friend and storyline rival will not be brought in.  At the very least, CMLL must be happy.  Not only does it appear that they may retain the recently unmasked Averno, but one has to think that they might be regaining Mistico, one of the top star’s in their history.
