Well, that was short-lived. Just weeks into her big WWE push, Kharma’s going to be sidelined for 9+ months due to her recently revealed pregnancy. This explains her conspicuous absence from Over the Limit and the Smackdown that preceded it, although it’s certainly not the news that any wrestling fan wanted to hear. It’s been a long time since WWE’s women’s division was respectable, and although Kharma wouldn’t have been able to make it credible on her own, her presence would have been a step in the right direction. Alas, we’ll have to wait near a year to see just how big an impact she’ll have.
With this information, we know now that Kharma’s breakdown on Raw this week was WWE’s way of writing her off of television for the time being, and I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that this was a bit of a bizarre sendoff. The segment that saw Kharma drop to her knees, surrounded by divas, and break down in tears raised more questions than it did resolve anything. It deepened her character and made her presence on television in the coming weeks more vital than it was when she was merely attacking divas every time they wrestled. I have to question why the WWE creative team would go this route.
At any rate, it’ll be a long, long time before we see Kharma in the ring again, and there’s no telling if the character she portrays upon her return will even resemble the one she’s developed over the past few weeks. Really, there’s no guarantee that she’ll even be back at all. I wonder if they’ll even mention her next week, or if they’ll just act like none of this ever happened. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time they’ve called mulligan on a major angle without a satisfactory resolution. GTV, anyone?
[…] For one, Kharma will address the WWE Universe about her apparent breakdown last week. As we know, she’s due to miss the next 9+ months as a result of her real-life pregnancy, although I doubt that will be the reason given on tonight’s telecast. How the WWE will […]
