I don’t have enough to say about any of these for them to warrant their own posts, but I think they all deserve your attention…
- Tickets are now on sale for the first Urban Wrestling Federation event. The show is scheduled for June 3rd in New York’s infamous Hammerstein Ballroom, and tickets range from 15 to 85 dollars. In addition to the talent that was confirmed a few weeks ago, Monsta Mack of Da Hit Squad has been added to the show. The event, titled First Blood, will also be broadcast via pay-per-view.
- Dragon Gate USA’s Mercury Rising will begin airing on traditional pay-per-view ten days from now on May 27th, and I’m looking forward to viewing the event. Akira Tozawa is featured in two matches, one against YAMATO and one opposite Jon Moxley. I was first exposed to Tozawa just a few weeks ago at Chikara’s King of Trios, but I was outrageously impressed and I can’t wait to check him out on this show. Other wrestlers taking part in the event include Brodie Lee, Chuck Taylor, Jimmy Rave, and PAC.
- Also on May 27, Pro Wrestling Syndicate rolls into Elmhurst, New York with their Refuse to Lose II supershow. Hardcore Legend Mick Foley will be on hand as the special guest commissioner, and the card is looking pretty solid. One of the matches that jumps of the page is a one-on-one encounter between Eddie Kingston and Psycho Sid Vicious, if for nothing but novelty’s sake. The Amazing Red will be part of a 6-way lucha contest and Sami Callihan will take on Dan Maff in a Texas Death Match. Velvet Sky and Sonjay Dutt are also booked to appear. The show will be available live on iPPV at GFL.tv.
- Just a friendly reminder, Chikara will kick off their 12 Large Tournament this weekend, which will ultimately lead to the crowning of their first singles champion. I’d love to see UltraMantis Black take home the prize, but I think the smart money is on Claudio Castagnoli.
