A couple months back, we reported on the planned launch of a new promotion called the Urban Wrestling Federation. The UWF, which will be brought to us by the former Managing Director of the original ECW, promised to debut on pay-per-view at some point in 2011. I’ll admit I had my doubts, but it now appears as though they’ll make good on their word this June.
As the debut of the new federation draws nearer, details about the company’s roster have begun to leak. Homicide, best known for his work in Ring of Honor and TNA as a member of the Latin American Xchange, will be one of the wrestlers showcased in the UWF. Other notable stars linked to the promotion are Sonjay Dutt, Eddie Kingston, and Ruckus (who we profiled here last week). Ricky Ortiz, formerly of WWE’s ECW brand, will be a part of the roster at the company’s first show, as will longtime indy staples Will & Joel Maximo (The Spanish Announce Team) and Slyck Wagner Brown. The inaugural event will be entitled First Blood although no specific date has been set as of this writing.
