Our Champion of Champions Tournament is down to the Final 4, and among them are The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Rock advanced to this stage first with a narrow victory over Batista, and then with a commanding win over Chris Jericho. Stone Cold’s path included a landslide victory over JBL, followed by a more competitive win against Randy Orton. Now, the two Attitude Era legends will clash in the semi-finals of our tournament.
The Rock & Stone Cold are no strangers to one another. They’ve competed against each other inside of a steel cage, in classic Survivor Series match, and at a record three WrestleManias. They’ve feuded over the Intercontinental Championship, and then the WWE Title. They’ve stolen each other’s finishing maneuvers, they’ve been tag team partners, and they’ve even performed a duet of Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville in the middle of the ring. Hell, on this very date 11 years ago they were involved in one of wrestling’s most memorable moments together. Their careers will be forever linked. The above video hypes their match at WrestleMania XIX, a match that would ultimately be Steve Austin’s last. Austin had won their previous two WrestleMania encounters, at XV and X7, but it was The Rock who finally emerged victorious in their last meeting. Which superstar do you support?
