Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle have both advanced into the quarterfinals in our Champion of Champions Tournament, designed to determine your favorite champion of the past decade. Only one of them will make it to the final four, and it’s up to you to decide who it will be.
The Heartbreak Kid was able to advance into the Elite 8 by way of an upset victory over John Cena, while Kurt Angle earned his spot with a win over The Miz. Michaels and Angle have met on a big stage before, at WrestleMania 21, as documented by the above video. It was one of the best WrestleMania matches in recent years, and it had one of my favorite builds ever leading into it. In just a couple of weeks, Angle accomplished “everything Shawn Michaels had done in his career,” which translated to winning a ladder match, beating up Marty Jannetty, and singing with Sensational Sherri. When the closing bell of their Mania match rang, Kurt Angle had his hand raised in victory. Will Shawn endure a similar fate in this tournament, or will the 2011 Hall of Fame inductee prove to have the fan support against the Olympic Gold Medalist? Be sure to come back Friday afternoon to log your vote!
