This video features one of my favorite memories of World Championship Wrestling. It’s not Goldberg’s streak, which was still alive but nearing it’s end at the time this match took place. It’s not The Big Show, then known as The Giant, pulling down his singlet strap to show that he meant business. It’s not a World Title actually being defended on free TV, and it’s certainly not Bam Bam Bigelow in sweat pants and a matching jacket. As great as these things may be, what I remember most fondly from Nitro main events is the Michael Buffer introduction. It brought such a gravity to each match. It made them feel like they mattered whether they did or they didn’t, like every match he introduced would become an instant classic. So, for the dozens of you reading this post, let’s get ready to rumbllllllle!
