Kurt Angle and The Miz will meet in the first round of our Champion of Champions tournament, designed to determine your favorite champion of the past ten years.
Kurt Angle was the first, and so far only, Olympic Gold Medalist to take his game to the WWE. In the WWE, he became a 6-time World Champion. He also captured the Intercontinental, European, United States, Hardcore, and Tag Team Titles during his stay, making him a Grand Slam Champion. Along with Edge, Angle is one of only two men to have held every active male championship in the WWE. In addition to all of his titles, Angle became the King of the Ring in 2000. His most memorable rivalries include those with Brock Lesnar, Chris Benoit, and Shawn Michaels.
The Miz’s resume isn’t as impressive at the moment, but his time atop the WWE has just begun. He’s the current WWE Champion, a 4-time Tag Team Champion, and a 2-time holder of the United States Title. He’s won Money in the Bank, and is the proud owner of two Slammy Awards. The Miz was ranked 12th in the most recent edition of the PWI 500, just three spots behind Kurt Angle. Miz is a former Tough Enough contestant and Diva Search host whose notable enemies include John Morrison, Daniel Bryan, and John Cena.
The Miz and Kurt Angle have never met inside of a wrestling ring. The Miz debuted as an in-ring talent for WWE the month following Kurt Angle’s release, so the opportunity for them to face eachother never arose.
