Ring of Honor’s 9th Anniversary show will stream from Chicago on GoFightLive.tv this Saturday night, and it looks like a pretty solid show. I can’t see any of the four big attraction matches, all plugged in the above video, disappointing many. Of the four of them, the World Title match between Roderick Strong and Homicide actually looks the weakest to me on paper, but I’ve never been a big fan of Homicide. If you enjoy his matches, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this. I have Roderick retaining with a little help from The House of Truth. The Television Title match between Eddie Edwards and Christopher Daniels may well steal the show. These two guys have torn the house down before, and this time it’s 2-out-of-3 falls. This could go either way, but I see Daniels retaining and Edwards moving up into the World Title scene. The two tag team matches are actually the selling point of the show for me. More on those, and the rest of the card, after the jump.
The Briscoes vs Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin is an actual dream match. Haas & Benjamin were one of the best tag teams of the decade in terms of actual ring work during their time in WWE, and now they’re going to step into the ring with one of the most accomplished tag teams on the Indy circuit. I think the former Team Angle will notch a victory in this one, laying the foundation for a tag title match at the next big event. But who will the Tag Champions be when that time comes? Why the Kings of Wrestling of course! It’s hard for me to imagine them dropping their belts to the All Night Express this Saturday night. In my opinion, the Kings are the best part of Ring of Honor right now, and it would be a travesty to end their record-setting reign with a loss to the ANX.
On the undercard, Colt Cabana will meet Davey Richards in a match between two guys booked against each other since neither had a better fit on the show. Davey is just a month removed from coming within inches of the World Title, and I firmly believe he’ll pull out a win this Saturday to keep him in contention. The best women’s wrestler in the world today, Sara Del Rey, will square off with MsChif, and you know who I’m pulling for in this one. Truth Martini’s newest project, Michael Elgin, is set to collide with the generic luchador, El Generico, and I imagine Elgin will be getting the rub in this one. He’s new, they’re trying to establish him, and no matter what they do to El Generico he will continue to be cheered. Not to mention, Generico recently wrestled a tryout match for TNA, so who knows how long he’ll be around Ring of Honor anyway? In a four-courners survival match, “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett will take on Steve Corino, Kyle O’Reilly, and the littlest lumberjack Grizzly Redwood. The match belongs to Bennett, who is being pushed up the card FAST.
You can watch Ring of Honor’s 9th Anniversary show this Saturday night as it happens on GoFightLive.tv at 8:30 PM for $14.99.
