Starrcade ’96 was the first installment of WCW’s biggest annual supercard after Hulk Hogan’s heel turn and the creation of the nWo. In the main event, after months of dodging the confrontation, Hollywood butted heads with “Rowdy” Roddy Piper in the culmination of a feud that had been sizzling since Halloween Havoc. Although Piper was successful in defending WCW against the leader of the rebellious nWo, Hogan was very confident heading into the match, as evidenced by this especially boisterous interview from early in the evening.
