That Damn Overrated.

Earlier this month, entertainment site UGO.com listed their Top 25 Most Overrated Wrestlers.  The list featured grapplers from throughout the years, not just today’s crop, and it spanned the major companies as well as the indies.  To no one’s surprise, Triple H topped the list.  I’m not trying to say that this is necessarily accurate, but this wasn’t the first time The Game was accused of being the most overrated.  He won the Wrestling Observer’s award for the category on four separate occasions, and it’s often been the speculation of fanboys that he’s in the position that he is because of his relationship with the bosses daughter.  Here’s what UGO had to say about the Cerebral Assassin.

For too long, Triple H has received a free pass from internet wrestling fans, but we say, “No more!” Sure, he used to be great, but that was before he destroyed his body and moved on to destroying the careers of younger wrestlers. Folks these days like to say that “The King of Kings” makes people into stars, but wrestlers tend to either suceed despite the terrible, emasculating beatings he gives them or just disappear back into the midcard. What’s worse is that he does it all with the same four boring, mechanical moves – a fact which goes strangely unnoticed by the world’s Cena-bashers, who tend to love “The Game.” If Triple H was as great as people say he is, the past 13 years of constant pushes shouldn’t have just turned him into another Rock or “Stone Cold,” it should have gotten him elected King of the Universe.

And The Chaperone looks atrocious.

Well, the Chaperone DOES look atrocious.  Think what you will about Triple H, some of the entries on this list are definitely questionable.  William Regal appears, as do Christopher Daniels, Curt Hennig, Dean Malenko, and Shelton Benjamin.  Conspicuous by their absence are John Cena and Rey Mysterio.  You can check out the article HERE or you can just see the complete list of 25 wrestlers, sans commentary, HERE.
