The big news on tonight’s wrestling shows will undoubtedly be the announcement of WrestleMania 27’s guest host. The Chairman himself, Vince McMahon, appeared last week and promised a major name would be confirmed during tonight’s Raw to oversee the spring classic. Rumors as to who it could be have been swirling around the internet ever since. There’s a belief that it could be Justin Bieber, as WWE is known to have been in talks with him to appear at the event already. Some people are speculating that it’s someone who has already hosted Raw, such as Pee Wee Herman, David Hasselhoff, or Bob Barker (who is already confirmed for the event.) The most popular opinion, and rightfully so, is that it’ll be a retired superstar, a fan favorite making their return at the grandest stage of them all. Shawn Michaels is among the leading candidates, as are Steve Austin and Roddy Piper. There’s speculation of it being the “Macho Man” Randy Savage since he was recently confirmed to appear in the new WWE All Stars video game. Personally, I’m inclined to believe that it could be none other than the Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment, The Rock. I don’t know if it’s sentimentality that has me believing that it could be The People’s Champ, or if it’s a legitimate possibility, but we’ll find out tonight on Raw. Also booked for the show is a Divas Title match between Champion Eve Torres and Natalya, along with three blockbuster matches featuring the combatants from this Sunday’s Elimination Chamber match. Sheamus will take on Randy Orton, John Morrison is slated to wrestle R-Truth, and John Cena will meet CM Punk in a match that “must have a winner!”
Meanwhile, Ring of Honor will see the start of their 2011 Top Prospects Tournament tonight. All eight competitors will be on hand, and a match between Kyle O’Reilly and John Gresham is set to kick off the first round. Homicide, still undefeated since his return to the company, will go one-on-one with Mark Briscoe. Tag Team Champions The Kings of Wrestling and #1 contenders The All Night Express are scheduled to make appearances on the show, as is “The King of Old School” Steve Corino.
